Career or Love? Embed from Getty Images Because I can’t resist… Slate printed this delicious quiz from an early Nineteen Fifties magazine called Girlfriend. The quiz was titled “What Are You Best Fitted For: Love or a Career?” The take a look at asks readers to reply a string of questions about conditions and preferences. A preponderance of “No” solutions marked the reader as destined for marriage. The questions paint career ladies in a reasonably unfriendly light; apparently we dislike men and have little interest in romance. Thank goodness for Helen Gurley Brown, who some 20 years later tell us we could have both. I love that this display screen shot has some lady’s solutions penciled in â€" she was destined for marriage and real love. Enjoy.
